Happy New Year Indeed

So it looks like 2012 will be a big year for us, and a fun one for you all.

We've already got 4-5 new venues lined up, including some casinos, our Mardi Gras arrangements, several themed parties, holiday shows booked, etc.

Be sure to keep up with our schedule on the web site for details, or follow us on here for behind the scenes updates before they're even posted to our site!

Going to the Chapel

For those of you keeping tabs on the band... one more is off the market.  Joe has recently proposed to his girlfriend Jen, which makes the status as follows;

Married - 1
Engaged - 1
Single w/Child (basically married) - 1
Single - 3

You have a 50/50 chance at connecting with a band member... which also means you have a 50/50 shot at doing something you'll regret.

Venues

This is a very serious question... where would you all like to see us play in 2012?  Let me reitterate that question... it's not "where would you like to see us play MORE in 2012", but tell us a venue we have not yet playedat, that you would like to see us at next year.

Best Band Name

Thanks to you all, our family, friends and loyal supporters... we were chosen as Readers' Choice for "Best Band Name" in the 2011 Best of St. Louis edition of the Riverfront Times!

So no longer is it jut the opinion of us 6 band members... it's now RFT Official!  Thank you all so much for your continued support and loyalty.   Not to mention, it's pretty rad to be in the same article with U2 and Nelly.

There are some big things in the future of DFR and we're excited to share it with all of you along the journey, as you all are the reason we're successful.

Strange Folk

This past weekend we played the Strange Folk Festival in O'Fallon, IL and man was it a good time.  If you're local and have never been, definitely make plans for next year... IF you're the kind of person who enjoys good food and homemade novelty items.

There were around 100 vendors there selling all kinds of items from hats & t-shirts, to log pillows and boobie tassels.  Personally I bought a hand-made cigar box guitar (that plugs in and works very nicely) and a custom guitar strap.

Going in to this event was scary... I signed us up to be considered for this year's entertainment not knowing the outcome.  When they called and said they wanted us, I checked out their web site and was immediately nervous.  Mushrooms and gnomes were the theme.  Was this a true "folk" festival?  Would we get yarn-bombed for playing Lady Gaga?  We weren't sure how this would pan out.

We played after a trio of guys who provided interesting background music for the festival.  Not us... we are definitely a show.  If you hear us, you will stop and stare... whether it be for good reasons or bad... we're not background music.  However once we started heads turned, especially once we busted out Adele's "Rolling in the Deep".  After we finished, the "Ukelele Cowboy Society" hit the stage consisting of a woman singer, and a man with a ukelele.  We were definitely not expected, but very well received. :)

This makes me happy.

Here goes nothin...

Well folks... we asked on facebook if you'd read our blog if there were a such thing. Ta daaa!!!

We're obviously new to the blogging game, but a friend of ours, Anthony Lambing has been attracting followers nationwide as he walks across the country with nothing but the bag on his back (which has very few necessities) and very little money. You can follow him at http://anthonywalksamerica.com/. It's a very inspirational story and he'd love the support.

I can promise you this... this blog will not always be informative, nor will it promise to be amusing, serious, or even worth your time. But we can promise that it will be updated as often as possible by all members of the band. It will mostly be updated before and after our shows, and a few random posts and/or venting sessions.

We only request one thing... if you have a question for the band or for any one member of the band, please email it to us at DanceFloorRiot@gmail.com rather than posting it on here.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy!
